To work at Kindred means to be part of team dedicated to quality care. Here’s a look at life at Kindred as seen through the eyes of its team members.
Shirley Elmer is one of our Above and Beyond Award winners. Shirley has been with Kindred since 1987 when she started in the nursing department as a CNA. In 1995, she became the Environmental Supervisor.
Shirley has always worked hard, always willing to work in janitorial, laundry and housekeeping to keep staffing adequate. Since May 2006 when we lost an employee who had a critically ill child, she has been the primary laundry staff member. Despite the challenges, Shirley's staff reports that she works her schedule around theirs so they can have their days off and PTO.
We consistently get compliments on the facility – the staff, residents and families note how odor-free and neat and tidy it is on a consistent basis. Shirley is pro-active in the Performance Improvement process too. When someone brings her a problem, she works with everyone to find a solution. Shirley also is a very active Angel in our Angel Care program. As if that isn’t enough, Shirley has renewed her CNA Certificate so she can help the Nursing Department when her schedule allows.
